Alceu Valença & Orquestra Ouro Preto: a celebration of Brazilian culture
Alceu Valença at Salle Pleyel, Paris lensed by Isadora Viriato.
Imagine listening to Brazilian music with a full orchestra. That’s exactly what happened last Saturday at Salle Pleyel, where the legendary Alceu Valença took the stage alongside Orquestra Ouro Preto for a breathtaking performance.
Alceu had previously performed in Paris, with his last show in the city taking place in 2023 (and I was there). Back then, he shared the stage with a band, delivering an incredible concert. But this time, the combination of his voice with the majestic of a live orchestra made the night magical.
It was truly a Celebration of Brazilian Music and Culture. Salle Pleyel was sold out with an enthusiastic crowd, many of whom proudly waved flags of Pernambuco, Brazil, where Alceu originates. From the very first song, people were already standing up to dance. The atmosphere was energic, with a mix of Brazilians and French fans coming together to celebrate Alceu’s music.
As always, Alceu was charismatic, warm, and spontaneous, sharing stories about his childhood and roots, transporting the audience straight to Brazil through his music and storytelling. His connection with the crowd was undeniable, making the experience feel intimate despite the size of the venue.
The Orquestra Ouro Preto added a whole new dimension to his songs, elevating them with rich melodies and dynamic rhythms. The combination of orchestral arrangements with Alceu’s unique style brought a fresh and powerful energy to his already iconic setlist.
The crowd went insane when the first notes of “Morena Tropicana” filled the venue, singing along with passion. And, of course, the grand finale with “Anunciação” was just euphoric—the entire room was on fire, with everyone dancing and singing at the top of their lungs. All we could feel was joy!
Alceu Valença once again proved why he is one of Brazil’s greatest artists. This was more than just a concert; it was a true Brazilian experience—a night that will stay in our hearts for a long time.
